What Does a Full Home Renovation Involve?
A full home renovation transforms every aspect of your property — structural layout, kitchens, bathrooms, joinery, flooring, electrics, plumbing, heating, insulation and decoration. It is the most comprehensive way to modernise a dated property or restore a period home to its full potential.
Unlike individual room projects, a whole-house renovation allows us to plan holistically. We can reconfigure layouts, upgrade services throughout, ensure consistent design language across all rooms and coordinate trades efficiently — reducing overall cost and programme compared to tackling rooms one at a time.
At TEMBOK, we specialise in renovating properties across Kent — from Victorian and Edwardian homes in Tunbridge Wells and Cranbrook to mid-century houses in Maidstone and Ashford. We understand the challenges of working with older building fabric and the techniques required to modernise sensitively.
Whether you have purchased a property that needs comprehensive updating or you are finally renovating the home you have lived in for years — we manage the entire transformation, coordinating every trade and ensuring quality is consistent from the first room to the last.
Why This Matters
What Happens When Renovation Is Delayed
Living in a home that needs renovation costs you in ways beyond discomfort. Outdated heating systems waste energy. Poor insulation inflates fuel bills. Ageing plumbing risks leaks and water damage. Deteriorating electrics pose safety hazards.
Tackling individual rooms over years is less efficient and more expensive than a coordinated whole-house approach. Each separate project requires its own mobilisation, its own dust containment, and often disrupts finishes completed in previous phases.
Property values in Kent reflect condition clearly. A poorly maintained or outdated property sells for significantly less than a well-renovated equivalent. The gap widens every year as buyer expectations for modern kitchens, bathrooms and energy performance continue to rise.
A planned, well-managed renovation addresses everything at once — structural, mechanical, electrical and decorative — delivering a home that is comfortable, efficient, safe and valuable for decades to come.
Our Process
How We Manage Whole-House Renovations
Property Assessment
We survey every room, identify structural issues, assess mechanical and electrical systems, and discuss your vision for the finished property. We create a prioritised scope of works.
Design & Specification
Room layouts, kitchen and bathroom designs, material selections, lighting plans and a detailed specification for every element. You approve everything before work begins.
Strip-Out & Structural Phase
Controlled demolition, structural alterations, wall removals, new openings and any necessary repairs to the building fabric. The property is prepared for first fix services.
First Fix Services
Complete rewiring, new plumbing and heating installation, insulation upgrades and carpentry first fix. All hidden services completed before walls and ceilings are closed up.
Second Fix & Finishing
Plastering, joinery, kitchen and bathroom installation, tiling, flooring, decoration and final commissioning. Each room completed to a turnkey standard.
