How long have you been trading?
Over 40 years. Tembok is a carpentry-led building firm working from a workshop in Biddenden across Kent and East Sussex.
Do you use your own team or subcontractors?
Our carpenters and joiners are our own and the joinery is built in our own workshop. Where a specialist trade is needed we use people we work with regularly, managed by us under one contract.
Are you insured, and what guarantee do you give?
Fully insured, with £5m public liability cover, and every project carries a 5-year workmanship guarantee. Manufacturer warranties on materials pass through unchanged.
Is the quote fixed, and is the site visit free?
Site visits are free and the written quote is fixed-price and itemised, so you can see what each element costs. Quotes are normally with you within five working days.
Do I need planning permission for my project?
It depends on the property and what you're adding. Many rear extensions and loft conversions are permitted development, but conservation areas, listed buildings and Article 4 streets are not. We check it before quoting, and the Planning Portal or your local authority gives the final answer.
